The original Nissan Pixo disappeared from the market more than a decade ago, but now Nissan is bringing the name back with electric power.

The new Pixo is a small electric city car designed primarily for urban driving, with a length of less than 3.8 metres, making it easy to manoeuvre around town.

It shares much of its engineering with the new Renault Twingo, with both cars being built alongside each other in Slovenia. However, Nissan has given the Pixo distinctive styling to set it apart from its French sibling.

The new model will sit below the Nissan Micra in the brand's electric line-up and will compete with a growing number of small and affordable EVs.

What does the new Nissan Pixo look like?

While the Pixo shares its basic shape with the Renault Twingo, Nissan has given the car a much more distinctive appearance.

The front end features a new bonnet and bumper design, along with flush-fitting LED headlights inspired by pixel shapes. The rear also gets bespoke lights and bumper detailing, while pixel-inspired alloy wheels add to the car's individual look.

Nissan has also included a number of small design details and 'Easter eggs' throughout the exterior, giving the Pixo a few surprises for owners to discover.

The car will be available in a range of colours, including distinctive purple and blue options that aren't offered on its closely related models.

With its compact dimensions and squared-off shape, the Pixo is designed to make the most of its small footprint while still offering plenty of character.

What's the Nissan Pixo like inside?

Inside, the Pixo shares much of its basic dashboard layout with the Renault Twingo, but Nissan has added its own design touches.

The cabin features a 7-inch digital driver's display and a 10-inch central touchscreen with Google built-in.

The system also introduces Google's Gemini AI assistant, allowing drivers to access information and services through their Google account.

There are also physical controls for the air conditioning, while Nissan has added storage areas throughout the cabin to make the most of the Pixo's compact dimensions.

One of the most useful features is the sliding rear seats. The two rear seats can be moved independently, allowing you to prioritise passenger legroom or boot space depending on what you're carrying.

With the seats positioned forwards, the Pixo offers up to 356 litres of boot space. Folding the rear seats increases this to as much as 1,221 litres.

How powerful is the Nissan Pixo?

The new Nissan Pixo uses a single electric motor mounted on the front axle, producing around 80bhp and 175Nm of torque.

That gives the Pixo a 0–62mph time of 12.1 seconds.

While that might not sound particularly quick, the Pixo is designed primarily as a city car, where its compact size and instant electric torque should make it well suited to everyday urban driving.

The car also has a tight 9.9-metre turning circle, making it easier to manoeuvre and park on busy streets.

Nissan is also planning to offer a range of driver assistance features, including hands-free parking technology.

How much range does the Nissan Pixo have?

The Nissan Pixo is powered by a 27.5kWh LFP battery, with a predicted WLTP range of up to 161 miles.

That puts the Pixo firmly in the city-car category, but the range should still be enough for most everyday journeys and occasional longer trips.

The battery can be charged using AC charging at up to 11kW, while 50kW DC rapid charging is available as standard.

Using a rapid charger, Nissan says the Pixo can charge from 15% to 80% in around 28 minutes.

The car will also offer vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging, allowing the battery to supply power to compatible electrical devices.

How much will the Nissan Pixo cost?

Nissan has not yet confirmed the official UK price for the new Pixo, with full pricing expected to be announced later in 2026.

However, don't be surprised to see the Pixo start from below £20,000 before any applicable Electric Car Grant discount.

If it launches at this level, the Pixo will become one of the more affordable new electric cars available in the UK.
