The Jaecoo 8 is the latest model from the rapidly expanding Chinese SUV brand, and it’s also the biggest and most powerful vehicle in the company’s UK line-up so far.

Positioned as a flagship family SUV, the new model aims to compete with established rivals such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Skoda Kodiaq by offering three-row practicality, strong performance and a generous electric driving range.

With prices starting from just over £45,000 and a high level of standard equipment, the Jaecoo 8 is designed to deliver premium features at a more accessible price point.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Jaecoo 8.

A new flagship SUV for Jaecoo

The Jaecoo 8 sits at the top of the brand’s growing SUV range, above the smaller Jaecoo 7.

Measuring around 4.8 metres long, it’s a large family SUV designed to offer plenty of interior space while maintaining the rugged styling that Jaecoo has quickly become known for.

The front end features the brand’s distinctive ‘waterfall’ grille, flanked by slim LED lighting and bold Jaecoo lettering. At the rear, a full-width light bar helps give the SUV a modern appearance.

While it shares some design cues with the Jaecoo 7, the larger 8 adopts a slightly sleeker look overall, signalling its role as the brand’s more premium and family-focused model.

Impressive plug-in hybrid power & range

Powering the Jaecoo 8 is the company’s Super Hybrid System, a plug-in hybrid setup designed to combine strong performance with long electric driving capability.

The system pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors and a three-speed hybrid transmission, producing a combined output of 422bhp and 580Nm of torque.

All versions of the Jaecoo 8 come with all-wheel drive as standard, helping the large SUV deliver confident performance both on the road and in more challenging conditions.

One of the standout features is the 34.5kWh battery, which allows the Jaecoo 8 to travel up to 83 miles on electric power alone (WLTP). That’s a longer electric range than many plug-in hybrid SUVs currently on sale.

When the petrol engine and battery are used together, Jaecoo claims the vehicle can travel more than 700 miles between refuelling stops.

The battery can also be charged at up to 40kW, allowing a 30–80% top-up in around 20 minutes using a compatible rapid charger.

Strong performance and off-road capability

Despite its focus on efficiency, the Jaecoo 8 is also designed to deliver strong performance.

The plug-in hybrid system allows the SUV to accelerate from 0–62mph in under six seconds, making it one of the quickest models in its class.

As part of Jaecoo’s rugged brand identity, the vehicle also features several systems designed to improve off-road capability. These include an adaptive terrain response system and a lockable differential, allowing the SUV to maintain traction in more challenging conditions.

The Jaecoo 8 also offers a wading depth of up to 600mm, highlighting its ability to handle rougher environments beyond everyday road driving.

Six or seven seats for family practicality

Inside, the Jaecoo 8 is designed with flexibility in mind.

The standard Luxury model comes with seven seats, using a traditional three-row layout with a second-row bench and two fold-down seats in the third row.

For buyers looking for a more premium experience, the Executive model features a six-seat configuration with individual captain’s chairs in the middle row. These seats include heating, ventilation and massage functions, creating a more luxurious environment for passengers.

The Executive version also adds a “Boss Button”, which allows rear passengers to adjust the front passenger seat to create extra legroom.

Boot space is generous for a vehicle of this size, offering up to 738 litres of luggage capacity (measured to the roof), expanding to 2,021 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

High levels of standard equipment

Both trim levels come with a strong list of standard features.

Inside the cabin, drivers get dual 12.3-inch displays, providing both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, making smartphone connectivity straightforward.

Other standard features include:

  • A panoramic sunroof
  • Heated, ventilated and massaging front seats
  • A 14-speaker Sony sound system
  • Adaptive suspension
  • 19 driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control

The Executive model builds on this specification by adding Nappa leather upholstery and the premium six-seat interior layout.

Jaecoo 8 price and UK availability

The new Jaecoo 8 is available to order in the UK now.

Prices start from £45,500 for the seven-seat Luxury model, while the six-seat Executive version costs £47,500.

That pricing places the SUV close to competitors such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Skoda Kodiaq, although the Jaecoo offers a longer electric range than many plug-in hybrid rivals.

Customer deliveries are expected to begin in May 2026, and every model comes with Jaecoo’s seven-year / 100,000-mile warranty, alongside an eight-year battery warranty.

Final thoughts

With its combination of seven-seat practicality, long electric range and strong performance, the Jaecoo 8 looks set to become an important model for the growing SUV brand.

By offering premium features and a powerful plug-in hybrid system at a competitive price point, the new flagship aims to attract buyers who might otherwise be considering more established family SUVs.

As Jaecoo continues expanding its presence in the UK, the arrival of the 8 marks another step in the brand’s push into the large SUV segment.
