Jaguar’s upcoming GT is one of the most anticipated cars of 2026. Based on the headline-grabbing Type 00 concept, the new four-door GT will be the British brand’s first new car since its controversial rebrand.

What is the Jaguar Type 00 GT?
The Jaguar Type 00 GT is an upcoming all-electric four-door grand tourer, inspired by the striking Type 00 concept (pictured below) that marked the beginning of Jaguar’s dramatic brand reset.
While the concept itself was never intended for production, it previews the design philosophy and ambition behind Jaguar’s next generation of cars, which is likely to include a luxury SUV and a sporty coupe.
The production-ready GT will be revealed in 2026, along with its official name, to become the first all-new Jaguar launched since the company repositioned itself as a lower-volume, high-end electric brand.

Jaguar Type 00 GT design
Jaguar has made it clear that its new GT will deliberately steer away from the typical EV design formula. Rather than prioritising aerodynamic efficiency above all else, the focus is on bold proportions and emotional appeal.
Prototype models spotted during testing suggest the production car will retain many of the Type 00 concept’s defining design cues. These include oversized 23-inch wheels, a long, sculpted bonnet and flush-fitting door handles.
Recent test cars also confirm the use of traditional wing mirrors instead of a digital camera system, as well as a four-door layout rather than the two-door configuration seen on the concept.
The overall stance points to a low-slung, wide-bodied GT with a long dash-to-axle ratio, creating a silhouette more reminiscent of classic grand tourers than modern electric saloons.
Despite heavy camouflage, the car’s dramatic proportions are hard to disguise, and Jaguar has been clear that the aim is to create something visually distinctive and engaging, rather than a shape dictated purely by wind-tunnel optimisation.
Jaguar Type 00 GT platform & engineering
The Jaguar Type 00 GT will be built on a brand-new, dedicated EV platform called Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). This platform has been developed specifically for Jaguar’s next generation of electric vehicles and is not shared with existing JLR products.
Jaguar has confirmed that JEA will support 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling ultra-rapid charging. This allows the Type 00 GT to add up to 200 miles of range in as little as 15 minutes, placing it among the fastest-charging electric cars on the market.
The Type 00 GT will also be built in the UK, marking a return to domestic production for Jaguar. This is a departure from the Jaguar I-Pace, which was assembled overseas.
Jaguar Type 00 GT motors, performance & range
While Jaguar has yet to confirm full technical specifications, the Type 00 GT is expected to use a tri-motor powertrain, with one electric motor at the front and two at the rear.
Combined output is believed to be around 1,000bhp, with advanced technologies such as torque vectoring, rear-wheel steering and four-corner air suspension helping to balance performance, agility and long-distance comfort.
Jaguar is targeting a real-world driving range of approximately 400 miles, supported by its ultra-rapid charging capability. And despite an anticipated kerb weight of around 2.5 tonnes, performance should be strong, with estimates pointing to a 0–60mph time in the three-second range.

Although Jaguar has yet to fully reveal the cabin, the Type 00 GT is being developed with a clear focus on driver engagement and long-distance comfort. Its dedicated EV platform should allow a low, natural seating position, avoiding the flat, compromised feel often associated with electric cars.
Inside, there’s a refined, minimalist layout that reflects the design philosophy of the Type 00 concept. High-quality materials are set to play a central role, reinforcing Jaguar’s move further upmarket.
A full-length panoramic roof will also feature, helping to flood the cabin with light and enhance the overall sense of space.
How much will the Jaguar Type 00 GT cost?
Jaguar has confirmed that its future models will sit in a significantly higher price bracket than its current line-up. The Type 00 GT is expected to start at around £120,000, with most versions likely to be priced closer to £140,000, depending on specification.
As part of its move upmarket, Jaguar is also likely to offer a wide range of bespoke options, allowing buyers to tailor the GT to their individual preferences.
When will the Jaguar Type 00 GT go on sale?
The production Jaguar Type 00 GT will be revealed in 2026, with order books opening in the second half of that year. First customer deliveries are anticipated around 12 months later.
