New BMW 5 Series Arrives With In-Built Games Console

The new BMW 5 Series which launched last week arrived with many new tech features including 15 built-in solo and multiplayer games.

Those sitting in the front or back can connect to the curved iDrive screen by simply scanning a QR code with their smartphones which act as makeshift controllers.

Passengers can play individually or team up against each other across various racing, sports, strategy, puzzle and quiz games. AirConsole has over 190 games so it’s likely that BMW will only add to the 15 games it currently has in its portfolio.

Drivers will only be able to launch the games whilst parked for obvious safety reasons. The tech is hoped to make destination charging a more enjoyable experience, especially for those with children that need to be kept entertained.

BMW has celebrated its new AirConsole collaboration by releasing an electric version of the 5 Series, dubbed the i5, with an 8-bit-inspired design.

The i5 has an 81.2kWh battery that should be able to go around 300 miles on a single charge depending on spec. You’ll also be able to charge from 10-80% in a swift 30 minutes.
