The four-dour Purosangue becomes Ferrari’s first ever SUV. It will reach the UK next year with prices starting around £350,000.

Despite looking very much like an SUV crossover, the prestigious Italian carmaker is keen to suggest that the Purosangue is unlike any other vehicle on the market. That much is true when looking into Ferrari’s own history as this latest model is the first four-door, four-seater they’ve ever produced.

Naturally, the Purosangue has been drawing comparisons to the Lamborghini Urus. However, the Urus is much larger with a 616-litre boot space that dwarfs the Ferrari’s 473-litre efforts. The price points are vastly different too, with the Ferrari costing around twice as much.

From this, it’s clear that the Purosangue isn’t an SUV that cares much for practicality and instead directs its focus on being a lean, mean, performance machine.

A new 6.5-litre V12 engine that can produce 715bhp and 716Nm of torque sits below the bonnet. This helps the Purosangue to go from 0-62mph in just 3.3 seconds, reaching top speeds of 192mph.

It’s an odd sight seeing a Ferrari with this much ground clearance. This stylistic departure means drivers have the opportunity to drive the car in some off-road situations, although there remains a strong emphasis from Ferrari that this is still a sports car and not a Jeep.

To conclude, the Purosangue is a pricy performance compact SUV crossover that sees Ferrari enter a segment that rivals like Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Porsche have long occupied.
