Kia first announced the EV9 concept last year and recent official camouflage images show their newest EV going through testing at the global Namyang research and development centre in South Korea.
The large SUV retains a similar profile to the concept displayed in 2021 with certain features toned down. The EV is slightly less angular and boxy than previous designs, which should increase aerodynamics, and the camera wing mirrors have been swapped out for actual mirrors.
You'll also see that they've ditched the clean pillar-less design of the concept in favour of more practical windows. The huge alloy wheels appear to have not made the final cut either.
However, Kia’s signature ‘tiger-nose’ makes a reappearance at the front and chunky wheel arches will help Kia's largest ever production model in off-road situations.

The latest interior images haven't been revealed but you can expect the cabin to look similar to the ones shown with the concept. A 27-inch widescreen display sits in the centre of a minimal seating area with very few physical buttons.
As with many concept designs, don't bank on the oval steering wheel making it through into production.
The EV9 will be built upon the E-GMP platform that is also going to feature on the new Hyundai IONIQ 7. If using the EV6’s 77.4kWh battery, then the EV9 will have a range just short of its younger sibling's at 328 miles due to its extra size.
