New Peugeot E-3008

Peugeot has shared a comprehensive overview of its latest SUV following the release of images last week. Scheduled to hit markets in February 2024, the E-3008 will initially be available in two trims: Allure and GT, with a choice of three different battery and motor configurations.

The Standard Range model has a 207bhp electric motor powering the front wheels plus a newly designed 73kWh battery pack.

This setup delivers a tested WLTP range of 326 miles and a swift 160kW charging capability, allowing for a 20-80% charge in just 30 minutes. Acceleration from 0-62mph takes 8.7 seconds, with a top speed of 105mph.

For those seeking all-wheel drive, the Dual Motor model maintains the same 73kWh battery and 207bhp motor for the front wheels while adding a 108bhp motor to the rear axle.

This configuration offers a combined power output of 316bhp, making it the fastest E-3008 in the lineup with a 0-62mph acceleration time of just 6.4 seconds.

At the top of the range sits the Long Range variant, which has a robust 98kWh battery pack and a more potent 227bhp electric motor for the front wheels. Peugeot claims an impressive 435-mile range is possible.

This diverse offering of battery packs and motor configurations represents a significant shift for Stellantis, Peugeot's parent company, as previous Peugeot electric models like the E-308 and E-2008 only came with a single battery and motor combination.

The E-3008's impressive increase in range can be attributed to its sleeker design that reduces aerodynamic drag and its innovative electric car platform.

Notably, the E-3008 is the first Stellantis model to utilize the new STLA Medium electric architecture, featuring larger motors, over-the-air update capabilities, and the introduction of two new 400-volt 73kWh and 98kWh battery packs.

The E-3008 has a more coupe-like roofline than its predecessor. Other notable design elements include slimmer headlamps and a body-painted grille with the latest Peugeot shield logo. High-set taillights draw inspiration from the Peugeot 408, while a roof spoiler and flush-fitting windows enhance aerodynamics.

Despite the sloping roofline, the E-3008 maintains a spacious interior with a generous boot capacity of 520 litres. The front cabin introduces Peugeot's next-generation i-Cockpit, which integrates driver and infotainment displays into a curved 21-inch screen.

The Allure trim includes half-leather effect and half-recycled fabric seats, a rearview camera, 19-inch wheels and full LED headlights. Meanwhile, the GT trim adds two-tone paint options, 20-inch wheels, pixel-LED headlights, wireless phone charging, and other premium features.

Peugeot has yet to disclose pricing details, although it is speculated that the E-3008 will have a starting price of around £40,000 when it becomes available in February 2024, placing it in line with the Volkswagen ID.4.

There are also plans to introduce plug-in and self-charging hybrid options at a later date.
