Volkswagen has revealed the all-new T-Roc, its final new model to feature petrol power. With electric cars now firmly at the centre of VW’s future, this second-generation SUV represents both a fresh start and the end of an era.
New Volkswagen T-Roc design
The T-Roc has always been one of Volkswagen’s most popular SUVs, so it’s no surprise that the new model doesn’t stray too far from the winning formula. The proportions remain recognisable, but the details have been thoroughly modernised.
At the front, a wider grille and slimmer LED headlights give the car a bolder look, linked together by a sleek light bar and illuminated Volkswagen badge. Higher trims can be fitted with Matrix LED technology for an even more striking effect.
At the rear, a full-width light strip and glowing red VW badge ensure the new T-Roc stands out at night.
Buyers will also notice a choice of new alloy wheel designs and fresh paint colours, including vibrant Canary Yellow and Celestial Blue. The car is slightly longer than before too, which adds a bit more space inside.

Step inside the new T-Roc and you’ll immediately notice the upgrades. Volkswagen has introduced a fresh design with higher quality materials, fabric finishes across the dashboard, and customisable ambient lighting that gives the cabin a more upmarket feel.
Technology has also taken a big step forward. A 10.4-inch infotainment screen comes as standard, with a larger 12.9-inch version available on higher trims. The system is simple to navigate, with a multifunction dial in the centre console for quick adjustments such as volume or driving modes.
And for the first time, the T-Roc can be fitted with features like a head-up display, Travel Assist and Park Assist Pro – technologies usually reserved for larger Volkswagen models.
Volkswagen T-Roc interior & practicality
Practicality has always been one of the T-Roc’s selling points, and the new generation continues that trend. The longer body gives rear passengers noticeably more legroom, so even adults well over six feet tall will find enough space to get comfortable.
The boot has grown too, now measuring 475 litres – an increase of 30 litres over the previous car. That makes it larger than many rivals, and the flat-folding rear seats make it easy to load longer items.
Extra storage spaces around the cabin, optional wireless phone charging and multiple USB-C ports add to the car’s everyday usability.
New Volkswagen T-Roc engines
From launch, the new T-Roc will be offered with two mild-hybrid petrol engines. Both use Volkswagen’s 1.5-litre turbocharged unit paired with a 48-volt system, producing either 116hp or 150hp. Every model comes with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard – manual transmissions are no longer offered.
A 2.0-litre version and the high-performance T-Roc R will follow later. For the first time, Volkswagen will also add a full-hybrid model to the range, allowing short distances to be driven on electric power alone. This should make the T-Roc much more efficient in town, directly targeting hybrid rivals like the Toyota C-HR.
When will the New Volkswagen T-Roc arrive?
The new Volkswagen T-Roc is already available to order in Germany, with deliveries beginning in November 2025. UK deliveries are expected to start early in 2026.
Prices in Germany start at €30,845, which suggests a UK starting price of around £30,000 once specifications and taxes are confirmed. That’s a slight increase over today’s model, which begins just under £29,000.
