It shows off the brand’s fresh design language and styling cues for building cars that are not heavily based on internal combustion-engined vehicles like the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge in its current line-up.
Head of Design at Volvo, Robin Page, explained: “It displays new and modern proportions that go hand in hand with increased versatility and shows what technology can enable in terms of design.”
Official proportions of the vehicle have not yet been revealed but the Concept Recharge appears to ride high like Volvo’s XC models whilst also having a lengthier body shape like that of an estate.
On the inside, a 15’ touch screen steals the show on what is a very minimalist and clean looking cabin. Volvo’s next-generation ‘Volvo OS’ infotainment system will come included too.
The concept features backwards-opening rear doors, an extended wheelbase and an entirely flat floor. A LiDar scanner will also be mounted on the front of the roof.
A stretched wheelbase has allowed Volvo to reposition the seats which has created a sloping roofline and a lower bonnet, all whilst maintaining a ‘high eye point’, that drivers enjoy.
