The Nissan Juke is entering a new era. Nissan has officially unveiled the third-generation model, confirming that the popular compact SUV will become a fully electric vehicle for the first time.
Set to be built in the UK and launched in 2027, the new Juke EV represents a major step in Nissan’s electrification plans, while continuing the model’s reputation for bold design and broad appeal.
Here’s everything we know so far.
A bold new design direction
The new Juke builds on the distinctive styling that has defined the model since its launch in 2010, but takes it further with a more angular and modern appearance.
Inspired by Nissan’s Hyper Punk concept, the design introduces sharper lines, geometric surfacing and a more aggressive overall stance. The front and rear lighting signatures have also been completely reworked, giving the car a unique identity within Nissan’s EV line-up.
Despite the radical look, the Juke remains a compact SUV at its core, with proportions that continue to prioritise urban usability.
A fully electric platform
For the first time, the Juke will be powered exclusively by electricity. It is based on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform, which also underpins the latest Nissan Leaf.
This architecture is designed specifically for electric vehicles, allowing for improved efficiency, packaging and overall performance compared with traditional combustion-engine platforms.
The new Juke EV will be front-wheel drive, with a focus on delivering a balanced and accessible driving experience suited to everyday use.
Expected range, battery and performance
Full technical specifications have not yet been confirmed, but the Juke EV is expected to closely mirror the setup used in the new Leaf.
This suggests a choice of battery sizes, likely around 52kWh and 75kWh, with a potential maximum range of up to approximately 380 miles (WLTP) in higher-spec versions.
Power outputs are also expected to align with the Leaf, with figures of up to around 215bhp. As with many models in this segment, the focus will be on balancing efficiency, usability and performance rather than outright speed.
Interior, technology and space
While Nissan has yet to fully reveal the interior, early details suggest a significant upgrade in technology and cabin space.
The new Juke EV is expected to feature a dual-screen setup, incorporating a digital driver display and central infotainment system similar to the latest Leaf. This system will include built-in Google services, navigation with charging route planning and over-the-air software updates.
Thanks to its electric platform, the new model should also offer improved interior space compared with the current petrol and hybrid versions, with a more open cabin layout and better rear passenger room.
Built in the UK
The new Juke EV will be produced at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, alongside the Leaf and Qashqai.
This continues Nissan’s long-standing investment in UK manufacturing and reinforces the importance of Sunderland as a key hub for electric vehicle production in Europe.
Production is likely to begin in early 2027, with sales starting shortly after.
Hybrid Juke to continue alongside EV
Alongside the new electric model, Nissan will continue to offer an updated version of the current-generation Juke with hybrid power.
This decision reflects current market demand, with EV adoption still growing in the UK. By offering both options, Nissan aims to provide greater flexibility for buyers while continuing its transition towards a fully electric future.
Price and release date
The new Nissan Juke EV is expected to go on sale in spring 2027.
Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but it should sit competitively within the small electric SUV segment, placing it alongside models such as the Ford Puma Gen-E, Kia EV3 and Renault 4.
