The Nissan Qashqai has been treated to a bold new update as it looks to maintain its position as one of Europe’s most popular cars. The Qashqai was the UK’s best-selling car in 2022 and finished second last year to the Ford Puma.

Sporting a revamped exterior, the Qashqai now boasts a more aggressive appearance taking inspiration from Japanese armour. A prominent black gloss grille dominates the front, seamlessly integrating the car’s headlights.

Along the bonnet line are thin LED daytime running lights. These remain fully detached from the headlights which sit below as part of the grille.

The rear of the vehicle showcases subtly redesigned taillights and a broader bumper. The new Qashqai will be available in a range of fresh colours and two-tone paint options. The redesign puts the crossover’s styling in line with the electric Nissan Ariya.

Replacing the Visia trim is a more premium N-Design variant, featuring body-coloured wheel arches, door panels, distinctive 20-inch alloy wheels, and luxurious Alcantara trim elements.

Inside, there have been adjustments too. All the Qashqai variants, excluding the entry-level trim, will get a new Google-based infotainment system that comes with Google Maps built-in.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are compatible on every derivative and the central 12.3-inch touchscreen benefits from improved graphics.

Nissan has prioritized safety, equipping every model with emergency lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and driver drowsiness attention warning systems.

Despite these updates, the Qashqai’s engine options remain unchanged. Buyers can choose between a 138bhp or 148bhp petrol mild-hybrid or Nissan’s unique 187bhp full-hybrid e-Power.

The revamped Nissan Qashqai is set to go on sale this summer. With the discontinuation of the more affordable entry-level Visia trim, pricing is expected to start around £30,000.
