Land Rover has officially confirmed the arrival of the all-new Range Rover GT, giving us our first look at one of the brand's most ambitious models yet.
Expected to be revealed in full later this year before arriving in 2027, the Range Rover GT will become the fifth model in the Range Rover family. Unlike the traditional Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the GT adopts a lower, more aerodynamic design intended to combine grand touring comfort with SUV practicality.
Here's everything we know so far.
A new direction for Range Rover
The Range Rover GT represents a significant departure from previous models.
Rather than following the upright proportions traditionally associated with Range Rover SUVs, the GT adopts a sleek fastback silhouette with a lower roofline and more coupe-inspired styling. The result is a model that sits somewhere between a luxury SUV and a grand tourer.
Despite its sportier appearance, the GT is understood to be similar in length to the Range Rover Sport while offering generous interior space.
Importantly, JLR has confirmed that the GT is not a replacement for the Range Rover Velar. Instead, it will become an entirely new model within the Range Rover line-up, with the current Velar continuing alongside it.
Built on JLR's new EMA platform
The Range Rover GT will be the first model to use JLR's new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA).
The platform has been designed primarily for electric vehicles, although hybrid versions are expected to follow later in the model's life.
While technical specifications have not yet been confirmed, the new architecture has been developed to improve efficiency, maximise interior space and support the latest software and driver assistance technologies.
The GT will also feature an 800-volt electrical system capable of supporting ultra-rapid charging.
Electric performance and range
JLR has yet to confirm battery capacity, driving range or power outputs for the Range Rover GT.
However, the 800-volt electrical architecture should support charging speeds of up to 350kW, allowing a 10–80% recharge in around 30 minutes when connected to a compatible ultra-rapid charger.
The GT is also expected to feature dual-motor four-wheel drive, combining strong performance with the all-weather capability buyers expect from a Range Rover.
Hybrid versions are also planned for later in the model's lifecycle, giving customers the choice between fully electric and electrified powertrains.
Minimalist interior with advanced technology
Although the exterior remains partially disguised, Range Rover has already revealed the GT's production interior.
The cabin introduces a new minimalist design language that is expected to influence future Range Rover models.
A 13-inch OLED touchscreen sits at the centre of the dashboard alongside a digital driver's display and head-up display. The centre console has been simplified, with hidden storage, wireless phone charging and climate controls integrated into the infotainment system.
Rear passengers will benefit from a panoramic glass roof and generous legroom, while buyers will be able to choose between a luxurious four-seat layout or a more traditional three-seat rear bench.
Luxury meets long-distance comfort
Land Rover says the GT has been designed as a refined long-distance cruiser.
The lower roofline improves aerodynamic efficiency, contributing to what JLR describes as the quietest Range Rover ever. At the same time, the company says the GT will continue to deliver the comfort, refinement and all-weather capability expected from the brand.
While its lower stance means it won't be as off-road focused as the standard Range Rover, JLR says it will remain one of the most capable vehicles in its class.
Expected price and release date
The Range Rover GT is expected to make its full public debut later in 2026, with customer deliveries likely to begin during 2027.
Official pricing has not yet been announced, although the GT should sit towards the premium end of the Range Rover line-up. The current Range Rover Velar starts from around £57,000, but with an all-new electric platform, more advanced technology and a more premium positioning, the GT is likely to cost upwards of £70,000.
Further details, including battery sizes, performance figures and UK specifications, will be confirmed closer to launch.
