The Renault 5 has received a series of updates designed to make the popular electric supermini more efficient, better equipped and even more customisable.
Renault has improved the range of its existing battery options, introduced a new entry-level LFP battery and added new technology, colours and personalisation options.
The changes help keep the retro-inspired electric hatchback competitive in an increasingly crowded market, where it faces rivals including the Volkswagen ID.Polo, MINI Cooper Electric and BYD Dolphin.
Here's everything you need to know about the updated Renault 5 E-Tech electric.
The Renault 5 now has more electric range
The biggest changes come to the Renault 5's existing battery options.
The 40kWh Urban Range battery now offers up to 196 miles of WLTP range, compared with 193 miles previously.
Meanwhile, the larger 52kWh Comfort Range battery now offers up to 267 miles, an increase of 12 miles over the previous maximum of 255 miles.
Renault says the improvements have been achieved through changes including redesigned door mirrors, revised lower bodywork and optimised battery systems.

The improvements may be relatively modest, but the extra efficiency gives the Renault 5 more flexibility for longer journeys.
A new LFP battery for the entry-level Renault 5
Renault is also introducing a new powertrain for the entry-level Renault 5.
The existing entry-level Five trim is set to receive a new 107bhp electric motor and a 36.5kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
Renault says this version will offer up to 190 miles of WLTP range, while the new motor will allow the car to accelerate from 0–30mph in just 3.5 seconds.
The updated Five will also gain an 80kW DC rapid charging capability, alongside its existing AC charging system.

- Range: 190-mile WLTP range
- 0–30mph: 3.5 seconds
- Maximum DC charging: 80kW
However, Renault has not yet confirmed whether this new version will be offered in the UK, so British buyers may need to wait for further details.
New Renault 5 colours and personalisation
The updated Renault 5 will also be available with additional colours and personalisation options.
A new Flame Red paint colour is joining the range, alongside Metallic Schist Grey.
Depending on the version, buyers will also be able to choose new roof and exterior graphics options, including a Starry Black roof and contrasting roofline finishes.
The 18-inch Techno alloy wheels can now also be specified with an optional gold finish.
Inside, the top-spec Iconic Cinq version receives new blue upholstery, replacing the previous yellow finish.
These updates give buyers even more opportunities to personalise the Renault 5 while maintaining the colourful, retro-inspired character that has helped make the car stand out.
New technology inside the Renault 5
Renault has also introduced several technology upgrades. A new magnetic, cooled wireless smartphone charger is being added, using the Qi2 charging standard.
The system is designed to provide faster charging while helping prevent the phone from overheating.
The Renault 5 also gains a new Smart driving mode, replacing the previous MySense mode. Smart driving can automatically switch between Eco, Comfort and Sport settings depending on how the car is being driven.
For example, the system can provide the sharper response of Sport mode when accelerating before switching towards Eco mode when driving more gently.
Drivers can still manually select their preferred driving mode through the infotainment system or using voice control.
Gemini AI is coming to the Renault 5
One of the most interesting technology updates is the introduction of Gemini, Google's AI-powered assistant.
Gemini will be available through an over-the-air update and is designed to offer a more conversational alternative to a traditional voice assistant.
Rather than relying on specific commands, Renault says drivers will be able to speak more naturally and make more complex requests. The assistant can also be interrupted mid-conversation and supports switching between languages.
The Renault 5 will also receive a new connectivity package, with 2GB of data per month included for three years, or for the duration of certain Renault leasing agreements.
