Why is there a hidden shark in every Vauxhall?
It all started in 2004 when Opel designer Dietmar Finger was sketching the glovebox design for the new Corsa. The structure needed ribbing to reinforce the plastic, and while he was working on the sketches at home, his son walked past, looked at the drawings, and asked:
“Why don’t you just draw a shark?”
Amused by the suggestion, Finger incorporated a small shark shape into the glovebox hinge. The idea was simple, but it resonated so well with the design team that they decided to keep it.
Since then, Vauxhall’s designers have continued the tradition, hiding a shark somewhere inside every new model – creating a fun Easter egg for car owners to discover.
Where is the hidden shark in my Vauxhall?

The answer? It depends on the model.
Vauxhall’s designers love to keep drivers guessing, so the shark isn’t always in the same place. In some cars, it’s hidden in the glovebox, just like the original Corsa. In others, you might spot it etched into door panels, moulded into the plastic trim, or even lurking beneath the centre console.
For example, the Vauxhall Adam is said to have three hidden sharks scattered throughout its interior, while the old Mokka hides one under the bonnet, near the oil filter - a sneaky spot that only the most eagle-eyed owners will notice.
