Vauxhall is gearing up for a hydrogen-powered future with the launch of its new Movano Hydrogen van, set to hit UK roads in spring 2025 with prices starting at £66,450.
Following trials of the smaller Opel Vivaro Hydrogen van in mainland Europe, Vauxhall has chosen to debut its hydrogen range in the UK with the larger Movano.
Available in two body sizes, L3 H2 and L4 H3, the top-spec L4 H3 starts from £68,070, after the plug-in vehicle grant. The Movano Hydrogen costs £7,965 more than its all-electric counterpart but delivers a longer range of up to 311 miles, 50 miles more than the electric model.
This impressive range is powered by a 45kW fuel cell and four hydrogen tanks capable of holding up to 7kg of hydrogen. Refuelling takes just five minutes, a stark contrast to the Movano Electric, which requires an hour to recharge from zero to 80% using its 50kW maximum charging rate.
In addition to the hydrogen fuel cell, an 11kWh battery provides support when starting or accelerating. This battery helps to power a single electric motor that produces 148bhp and 410Nm of torque. It can be recharged via regenerative braking or with an 11kW AC charger, taking 90 minutes.
The Movano Hydrogen comes exclusively in Vauxhall’s ‘Prime’ trim, ensuring a well-equipped cabin as standard. Key features include a 10-inch central touchscreen with satellite navigation, a seven-inch digital driver display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice command functionality, and two USB ports.
Drivers will also benefit from keyless entry, rear parking sensors, automatic air conditioning, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat with an armrest, and a dual passenger bench seat for added practicality.
Full technical specifications, including payload capacity, towing limits, and performance details, are expected to be unveiled closer to the van’s spring 2025 launch.
