Positioned within the fast-growing small electric car segment, the Raval is expected to start from around £23,000, making it one of the more affordable options in Cupra’s line-up. It will compete with models such as the Renault 5, Volkswagen ID.Polo and Peugeot e-208.
Here’s everything we know so far.
A compact electric hatchback
The Cupra Raval is a compact five-door electric hatchback measuring around 4.05 metres in length. This places it firmly within the small EV segment, making it well-suited to urban driving while still offering enough space for everyday use.
Despite its size, Cupra has positioned the Raval as a sportier alternative to the upcoming Volkswagen ID. Polo. It shares its underpinnings with this model, as well as the Skoda Epiq, but features a lower stance and wider track to emphasise a more dynamic character.
This platform, known as MEB Plus, is an evolution of the architecture used by larger Volkswagen Group EVs. It has been developed with cost efficiency in mind, helping the Raval achieve a competitive starting price.
Range, battery options and charging
The Cupra Raval will be available with multiple battery and powertrain configurations, allowing buyers to choose a setup that best suits their needs.
Entry-level versions will feature a 37kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a WLTP range of around 185 miles. These models are designed for urban and lower-mileage drivers, where efficiency and affordability are key priorities.
Mid-range versions will offer a larger 52kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, increasing the range to approximately 280 miles (WLTP). This is expected to be the most popular option for UK buyers, balancing range with cost.
Charging speeds vary depending on the battery. The smaller battery supports DC rapid charging at up to 90kW, while the larger battery increases this to 130kW. Under optimal conditions, this allows a 10–80% charge in around 25 to 30 minutes.
The Raval also supports Type 2 and CCS charging, ensuring compatibility with home chargers and the vast majority of public rapid charging networks across the UK and Europe.
Performance and driving
Cupra will offer the Raval with a range of power outputs across the line-up.
Entry-level models produce around 114bhp, while mid-spec versions increase output to approximately 133bhp or 208bhp, depending on specification.
At the top of the range sits the Raval VZ, which delivers up to 222bhp and is designed to be the performance-focused variant. This version is capable of accelerating from 0–62mph in around 7.0 seconds, with a reduced range of approximately 250 miles due to its increased performance.
The Raval will be front-wheel drive across the line-up. Suspension has also been tuned for a sportier feel compared with its platform siblings, reinforcing Cupra’s performance-focused positioning within the Volkswagen Group.
Interior, technology and features
Inside, the Cupra Raval follows the brand’s modern design approach, combining digital technology with a driver-focused layout.
The cabin features a 10.25-inch digital driver display alongside a large central infotainment touchscreen. The system supports connected services, over-the-air updates, and access to a range of apps, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
While the system retains touch-based controls for certain functions, the steering wheel includes physical buttons to improve usability. The infotainment interface is expected to support navigation, charging route planning and connected services.
Higher-spec models will include additional features such as ambient lighting, sound systems and more premium interior materials. Cupra has also introduced a distinctive use of lighting elements, including projected animations within the cabin on selected models.
Practicality and boot space
Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the Cupra Raval has been designed with practicality in mind.
The boot offers up to 430 litres of capacity, which is strong for a car in this segment. This is made possible in part by clever packaging, including a large underfloor storage compartment for charging cables and smaller items.
Rear passenger space is also competitive, with enough room for everyday use, including short journeys with multiple occupants. While it remains a compact hatchback, the Raval aims to balance usability with efficiency.
Design and styling
The Cupra Raval closely follows the design language first previewed in the Urban Rebel concept.
It features a distinctive front end with a sharp, angular “sharknose” design, along with a sloping roofline and compact proportions. The front lighting signature and aerodynamic detailing help distinguish it from other small EVs on the market.
Overall, the design reflects Cupra’s focus on sportiness and modern styling, while remaining practical for everyday use.
Price and release date
The Cupra Raval is expected to go on sale in the UK in summer 2026, with a starting price of around £23,000.
Higher-spec versions, including models with larger batteries and the performance-focused VZ variant, will cost more, likely reaching closer to £30,000 depending on specification.
Positioned as one of the more affordable electric vehicles in the Cupra range, the Raval will play an important role in the brand’s future line-up and is a key model to watch in the electric car market.
