As its name suggests, the new Ferrari 12Cilindri (Dodici Cilindri) features a powerful 12-cylinder engine. Despite being reworked to meet new emissions standards, the 6.5-litre V12 outputs 819bhp with a staggering 9,500rpm redline.
The 12Cilindri manages all this without electrification. Unlike equivalent models made by Lamborghini, no hybrid or mild-hybrid elements assist the potent performance figures.
The exhaust system has also been adjusted to comply with new EU car noise regulations. Ferrari has channelled more of the loud V12 engine sounds into the cabin to reduce outside disturbance.
The coupe’s engine setup is very similar to the 812 Competizione. A rear-mounted eight-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts 30% faster than its predecessor alongside 21-inch wheels that shorten gear ratios by 5%.
Ferrari claims the 12Cilindri can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds, reaching 0-124mph in just 7.9 seconds, with a 211mph top speed.
The styling combines contemporary and retro elements for a distinctive design. A black visor which sits just beneath the bonnet line is reminiscent of the front panel found on the classic 365 GTB/4 Daytona.
Inside, the 12Cilindri has two separate zones for the driver and the passenger. Just like in the new Roma and Purosangue models, the dual-cockpit means both people will have their own controls and displays. Ferrari has also installed a third central touchscreen that works the media and heating.
Scheduled for release in both coupe and Spider variants towards the end of the tear, the 12Cilindri is expected to cost around £400,000.
