Positioned below the EV3 in Kia’s lineup, the EV2 is a compact yet versatile electric vehicle (EV) for urban drivers. It strikes a balance between practicality, modern design, and affordability.
When it launches, the Kia EV2 will compete with models like the Citroen e-C3, Jeep Avenger, Volkswagen ID.2, Hyundai Inster and Renault 5.

What does the Kia EV2 look like?
The Kia EV2 showcases a clean but rugged design, with a boxy silhouette and lots of cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers. This gives the small EV2 a sturdy SUV-like appearance.
The concept — which is likely to be similar in appearance to the production car — has a very smooth exterior surface, with rounded corners and no visible door handles. Kia’s signature vertical LED headlights give the front a bold identity, while lower-positioned taillights create a distinctive appearance at the rear.
One unique feature on the concept model is the rear-hinged back doors, similar to those found on the BMW i3. While this setup improves access to the rear seats, it's uncertain whether it will reach production due to added costs.
How big is the Kia EV2?
While official dimensions haven't been released, the Kia EV2 is expected to be similar in size to the Hyundai Inster, measuring approximately 3.8 metres in length and under 2 meters in width (including the side mirrors).
This means the EV is slightly more compact than competitors like the Renault 5 and Citroen e-C3, making it ideal for city driving.
What does the Kia EV2’s interior look like?
Despite its compact footprint, the Kia EV2 maximises interior space through clever design. Folding rear seats allow the front seats to slide back and create extra legroom when the car is stationary.
The concept model also showcases removable triangular speakers, which double as portable Bluetooth devices, and a minimalist dashboard with twin digital displays - a feature likely to carry over to the production version.
How much range does the Kia EV2 have?
The Kia EV2 is expected to offer two battery options, including a 42kWh LFP battery and a 58kWh NMC battery. Based on the powertrains of its siblings, these configurations are expected to offer WLTP ranges of approximately 180 miles and 270 miles, respectively.
Charging times should be competitive, with fast-charging from 10-80% in around 30 minutes. Additionally, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality is expected, allowing owners to power external devices or feed energy back into the grid.
How fast is the Kia EV2?
Official performance figures haven’t been released, but the Kia EV2 is likely to share its platform with the Kia EV3, meaning it could feature a front-mounted motor producing up to 200bhp.
This setup would enable a 0-62 mph time of around 7.5 seconds for the 58kWh version, while the 42kWh variant will have a lower power output and slower acceleration.
Kia has also hinted that all its EV models will eventually receive high-performance GT variants. Given that the Alpine A290 (Renault 5’s sportier version) delivers up to 217 bhp, a potential Kia EV2 GT could be introduced further down the line.
How much does the Kia EV2 cost?
Kia is positioning the EV2 as one of the most affordable EVs on the market, with a target starting price of around £25,000. This places it in direct competition with models like the Renault 5, Vauxhall Corsa Electric, and Mini Cooper Electric.
When will the Kia EV2 go on sale in the UK?
The final production version of the Kia EV2 is expected to be unveiled in late 2025 or early 2026, with UK sales likely to begin later that year.
