Performance & batteries
The EV3 features a single 201bhp electric motor that drives the front wheels for a 7.5-second 0-62mph time.
Built on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6, the EV3 can be paired with two different battery sizes. The Standard Range variant gets a 58.3kWh unit for a 255-mile range, while the Long Range gets an 81.4kWh unit for a huge 373-mile range.
These range figures surpass rivals such as the Volvo EX30, Smart #1 and Peugeot E-2008, which all fall short of the 300-mile mark.
Exterior & styling
Outside, the Kia EV3 looks very similar to the concept car that was revealed last year. The EV3 adopts Kia’s latest design language which was implemented on the EV9 and the recently facelifted EV6.
Vertical daytime running lights bring out Kia’s iconic Tiger Face design and muscular body cladding around the sides helps give the car a rugged SUV appearance.
The EV3 is 4,300mm long, 1850mm wide and 1,560mm tall making it slightly shorter than the Kia Niro. However, with a long 2,680mm wheelbase, the EV3 has a roomy interior that is comparable to the larger Sportage.
Interior & tech
Inside, the EV3’s spacious cabin features two 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and driver information, linked together by a smaller 5.3-inch climate control screen.
The infotainment now comes with new display themes, new mini-games and ChatGPT embedded within the voice recognition software.
If that all sounds a bit fiddly, Kia’s made sure to include enough physical buttons for all the essential controls to make things easier when you’re driving.
The interior is made up of eco-friendly materials, with recycled fabrics on the dashboard and door trims, and recycled plastics in the seats and armrests.
Though just a compact SUV, the EV3 offers a class-leading 460-litre boot, thanks to the long 2,680mm wheelbase we mentioned earlier, and an additional 25-litre frunk.
Release date & pricing
Kia said previously that it aims to keep the EV3’s price below £30,000 for the standard models, though you’ll have to wait for official figures. The EV3 is expected to go on sale in Europe this autumn.
As with Kia's previous EV models, a GT version should arrive later. This will feature an extra electric motor for greater power performance.
