Leapmotor T03: Affordable EV Launches in the UK

Priced at just £15,995, the T03 enters the UK market as the second-cheapest EV, costing only £1000 more than its main competitor, the Dacia Spring.

Both models are compact four-seaters, roughly the size of a Kia Picanto. However, the T03 offers more features as standard, including a 10-inch touchscreen, an 8-inch instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and electric windows all around.

The T03 also boasts advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot detection. Like the Spring, its software supports over-the-air updates, allowing Leapmotor to enhance features post-purchase.

The T03 has a larger 37.3kWh battery than the Spring’s 26.8kWh, providing a WLTP range of 165 miles, 26 miles more than its rival. It also supports fast charging, going from 30% to 80% in around 36 minutes using a 48kW DC charger.

Performance-wise, the T03 is quicker with its 94bhp motor reaching 0-62mph in 12.7 seconds, outpacing the 44bhp Spring which takes 19.7 seconds. Even the more powerful 64bhp Spring (also priced at £15,995) needs 13.7 seconds for the same sprint.

Leapmotor C10

Leapmotor's second offering, the C10 SUV, costs £36,500 and is similar in size to the Skoda Enyaq.

The C10 features a single 215bhp electric motor delivering a 0-62mph time of 7.5 seconds. It also comes with a 69.9kWh battery which supports rapid charging up to 84kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in around 30 minutes.

Inside, the C10 has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a large 14.6-inch infotainment display which manages most of the vehicle’s key controls. While the cabin offers plenty of space, the boot is somewhat limited at 435 litres - around 150 litres smaller than the Enyaq’s.

Release date

UK orders for the T03 and C10 open next month, with first deliveries expected in December. Both models will be sold under Leapmotor International, a joint venture between Leapmotor and Stellantis, with a 49:51 ownership split.

Leapmotor is also preparing to unveil a third model, the B10 SUV, at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
