What does the Polestar 5 look like?

The Polestar 5 remains remarkably faithful to the futuristic Precept concept, retaining its sleek, sculpted design. At over five metres long, it has the stance of a proper grand tourer, with a low nose, sweeping roofline, and a wide, planted rear end.

Signature touches include slim “dual-blade” headlights, a clean front fascia with Polestar’s SmartZone sensor panel, and a full-width lightbar at the back.

There’s no traditional rear window – instead, a digital rear-view mirror takes its place, just like on the Polestar 4, which helps improve headroom.

Polestar’s biggest panoramic roof yet stretches more than two metres across, adding to the airy interior feel. Customers can choose from six paint finishes, including bold matte shades like Storm (a deep grey) and Magnesium (a silvery metallic).

How big is the Polestar 5?

The Polestar 5 is every bit a grand tourer. At just over five metres long and around 1.4 metres tall, it sits lower and sleeker than most performance EVs, closer in spirit to cars like the Porsche Taycan or Audi e-tron GT.

Underneath, it’s built on the all-new Polestar Performance Architecture. This chassis is totally bespoke to the brand and has been developed in the UK by a team of engineers with years of experience building British sports cars.

The structure uses extruded aluminium – an approach also used on the Lotus Elise – which keeps weight down while maximising stiffness. The result is sharper handling and improved efficiency without sacrificing comfort.

Clever packaging inside the floor-mounted battery also frees up extra foot space for rear passengers, so there’s no compromise on comfort despite the coupe-like roofline.

What does the Polestar 5’s interior look like?

Step inside and the Polestar 5 blends Scandinavian simplicity with luxury and tech. The cabin feels uncluttered, with a clean dashboard design, slim screens, and a panoramic roof that floods the space with light.

The front seats, developed with Recaro, sit low for a sporty driving position and can be finished in MicroTech or soft Nappa leather. Heating, cooling, and even massage are available, while the rear seats are sculpted for comfort and can fold into a lounge-style setup with a central armrest.

Sustainability is a core theme. Materials like recycled plastics, natural fibre composites, and carpets made from reclaimed fishing nets all feature, showing Polestar’s commitment to reducing environmental impact.

Technology is equally impressive. Drivers get a 9-inch digital display and a head-up display, while the centre is dominated by a 14.5-inch portrait screen running Google built-in. Music fans can upgrade to a 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system for a true hi-fi experience.

How fast is the Polestar 5?

As Polestar’s flagship, performance is a priority. Two versions will be available:

• Dual Motor: 737bhp, 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds
• Performance: 871bhp, 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds

Both are limited to a 155mph top speed. Stopping power comes from Brembo brakes with huge 400mm discs, while suspension tech includes adaptive dampers on the Performance model. Michelin tyres, up to 22 inches in size, complete the setup.

How much range does the Polestar 5 have?

Power comes from a 112kWh lithium-ion battery, giving the Polestar 5 competitive range figures:

• Dual Motor: up to 416 miles (WLTP)
• Performance: up to 351 miles (WLTP)

Its 800-volt architecture allows ultra-fast charging at up to 350kW DC, meaning a 10-80% top-up in as little as 22 minutes under ideal conditions. To help with efficiency, the rear motor can also disconnect when cruising, reducing energy use.

UK pricing puts the Polestar 5 firmly in the luxury EV bracket:
