The Vauxhall Corsa GSE marks Vauxhall’s return to the performance supermini market, reviving the GSE badge for the electric era.
The new model becomes the fastest car in Vauxhall’s lineup and is one of the most powerful electric hot hatches on sale, targeting rivals such as the Alpine A290 and Peugeot E-208 GTi.
Here’s what we know so far.
Hot hatch styling
At first glance, the Corsa GSE looks fairly restrained compared to some hot hatchbacks.
However, several styling changes help distinguish it from the standard Vauxhall Corsa Electric. Revised front and rear bumpers, wider wheel arches and additional black exterior detailing give the car a more purposeful appearance, while subtle GSE badging appears across the bodywork.
The wider stance is further emphasised by new 18-inch alloy wheels inspired by the classic Vauxhall Nova GTE, along with yellow brake calipers and a black roof.
At the rear, a subtle roof spoiler helps complete the sportier design.
Performance and power
The Corsa GSE uses a front-mounted electric motor that produces up to 277bhp and 345Nm of torque.
That allows the car to accelerate from 0–62mph in just 5.5 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating Vauxhall currently on sale. Top speed is limited to 112mph.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a Torsen limited-slip differential, designed to improve traction and handling during harder driving.
Vauxhall has also introduced several chassis upgrades over the standard car, including stiffer suspension, a lower ride height, revised steering calibration and larger four-piston brakes.
Battery, range and charging
Official WLTP range figures have not yet been confirmed, but expectations are for around 220 miles from the Corsa’s 54kWh battery pack.
Rapid charging of up to 100kW is supported, allowing a 20–80% charge in approximately 30 minutes when connected to a suitable DC rapid charger.
The Corsa GSE will also feature vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing external electrical devices to be powered from the car’s battery.
Driving modes and thermal management
Three driving modes will be available: Eco, Normal and Sport.
Eco mode prioritises efficiency and reduces the car’s top speed, while Sport mode unlocks the full performance available from the powertrain.
Vauxhall has also confirmed a bespoke thermal management system designed to help maintain battery temperatures during repeated hard driving, helping deliver more consistent performance.
Interior and technology
Inside, the Corsa GSE receives a number of upgrades over the standard car.
The most noticeable changes are the heavily bolstered sports seats, finished in a combination of Alcantara and cloth with yellow detailing inspired by older Vauxhall performance models.
Yellow seatbelts, contrast stitching and GSE badging are also included throughout the cabin, while the digital displays gain additional performance-focused graphics and information.
The rest of the interior remains largely unchanged, meaning the Corsa GSE retains the practicality of the standard model, including its 309-litre boot capacity.
Price and release date
Official pricing has not yet been announced, but the Corsa GSE is expected to start from around £34,000.
The car is likely to go on sale later this year, with customer deliveries to begin shortly after.
