New MG Cars Coming Soon: UK Release Dates, Prices & More

MG has become one of the most exciting brands in the UK car market. Over the past few years, it’s built a reputation for delivering well-equipped, great-value electric vehicles, from the hugely popular MG4 to the family-friendly MG ZS EV.

And MG isn’t slowing down. With ambitious plans to expand its line-up, including premium EVs developed by parent company SAIC, the next few years could be transformative for the Chinese-owned brand.

Here’s a look at the new MG models expected to arrive in the UK soon.

MG IM6 SUV

One of the most eagerly awaited new MGs is the IM6. This is a sleek, mid-size electric SUV aimed squarely at the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Skoda Enyaq, and BYD Sealion 7.

If you’re wondering about the new naming strategy, ‘IM’ stands for Intelligence in Motion, which is a premium EV sub-brand owned by MG’s parent company SAIC. Already on sale in China under the IM Motors badge, the IM6 will launch in the UK as a flagship MG SUV this September.

The top-spec Performance model is particularly striking, with dual electric motors, four-wheel drive, and a whopping 742bhp – good for a 0–62mph sprint in just 3.5 seconds. All versions use a 96.5kWh battery, offering up to 388 miles of range on the Long Range spec, or around 313 miles on the Performance version.

Inside, the IM6 offers a premium cabin packed with tech, including a massive 26.3-inch curved panoramic display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a separate 10.5-inch touchscreen, and intelligent one-touch parking. Other highlights include a 20-speaker sound system, multi-zone ambient lighting, and advanced driver-assistance systems.

UK pricing starts at £47,995 for the Long Range model, rising to £50,995 for the Performance and £52,995 for the fully loaded Launch Edition.

MG IM5

Launched alongside the IM6 is the MG IM5 – a sleek electric hatchback with saloon-like proportions. Think Polestar 2, Tesla Model 3, Hyundai IONIQ 6, or Volkswagen ID.7.

As with the IM6, the IM5 has already gone on sale in China as the IM L6. For the UK and European markets, parent company SAIC is rebadging the car as the MG IM5 as part of its push to expand MG’s electric range.

The high spec Performance model features dual motors and four-wheel drive, delivering 741bhp and a blistering 0–62mph time of just 3.2 seconds. The IM5 also uses 800V architecture, allowing ultra-rapid charging from 10–80% in as little as 17 minutes.

Battery options include a 75kWh pack for the Standard model, and a 100kWh unit for Long Range and Performance trims. The Long Range offers up to 441 miles (WLTP) on a single charge.

Inside, the IM5 mirrors the premium experience of the IM6, with a 26.3-inch driver display, a 10.5-inch touchscreen, panoramic roof, soundproof glass, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and ventilated front seats.

UK prices start from £39,450, rising to £44,995 for the Long Range and £48,495 for the Performance. Sales start in September.

MG Cyberster GTS

Following the launch of the MG Cyberster, MG is set to expand its sports car offering with a more practical coupe – the Cyberster GTS.

This fixed-roof version of the Cyberster adds two small rear seats in a 2+2 layout, while keeping the car’s dramatic, head-turning styling. Rumours suggest MG could release the GTS later this year to mark the 60th anniversary of the MGB GT.

MG2

While MG has been pushing into premium territory with models like the IM5 and IM6, it’s also preparing to launch the affordable MG2.

Expected in 2027, the MG2 will sit below the MG4 and serve as an all-electric replacement for the MG3. With a target price around £20,000, it’s set to rival budget-friendly EVs like the Citroën e-C3, Renault Twingo, and Volkswagen ID.1.

Built on the same Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) as the MG4, the MG2 is expected to come with 51kWh or 64kWh battery options and offer a range comfortably above 200 miles.

Styling will take cues from both the MG3 and MG4, while the interior is likely to feature a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, 7-inch digital display, and MG’s latest driver assistance tech, including MG Pilot.

With smart looks, practical features, and a genuinely affordable price tag, the MG2 could be a game-changer for budget-conscious EV buyers.

MG4 facelift

The MG4 only arrived in 2022, but it’s already in line for an update. While a more dramatic redesign has been revealed for the Chinese market, the UK version will receive a subtle facelift rather than a full overhaul.

The most noticeable changes will be inside. The MG4’s cabin is set for a major upgrade inspired by the newer MGS5 EV, featuring softer-touch materials, a larger, faster infotainment system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

MG has also confirmed that the updated model will gain the S5’s advanced level-two driver assistance system, enhancing its semi-autonomous capabilities.

The facelifted MG4 is expected to arrive in 2026, helping it stay competitive in the increasingly crowded affordable EV segment.

MG Cyber X

Unveiled as a concept at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, the MG Cyber X hints at the possible launch of a new premium sub-brand for MG.

This bold, rugged electric SUV is similar in size to the Land Rover Defender and signals a potential move into more adventurous, off-road territory.

While just a concept for now, MG has a strong track record of turning ambitious designs into production cars – just as it did with the Cyberster last year. If greenlit, the Cyber X could arrive by 2027.
