When was the Renault Twingo last on sale?
The Renault Twingo is a compact city car that’s been in production since 1992. The Twingo was last on sale in the UK in 2019 but now returns as an electric vehicle (EV).
This is not the first time Renault has electrified an old name. It recently revived the Renault 5, 4, Megane and Scenic.
What does the Renault Twingo E-Tech look like?
Concept images reveal that the new Renault Twingo E-Tech will share many similarities with the classic ‘90s model. There are lots of curved shapes and soft edges to give the EV a fun and expressive appearance.
Rounded LED headlights and illuminated circular door handles take inspiration from the 1992 model, giving the car a friendly, modern look. Between the lights sits a fake air vent that’s also been taken from the first-generation car.
Unlike the original models, the electric Twingo will have 5 doors, with the rear door handles hidden in the C-pillar. There’s also a glass roof that adds a premium touch, enhancing the cabin’s brightness and creating an airy feel.
At the back, there are more protruding LED lights as well as a black rear windshield and ‘Twingo’ lettering.
When will the Renault Twingo E-Tech go on sale?
The Renault Twingo E-Tech is expected to hit the UK market in 2026. Renault is working with Ampere to produce the electric Twingo and is hoping to get the EV to market quickly to stave off competition from China.
The new Twingo E-Tech isn’t just a facelift, it’s an entirely new model that’s targeting the budget-friendly EV market.
How much will the Renault Twingo E-Tech cost?
It’s been revealed that the entry-level Renault Twingo E-Tech will cost just under £17,000, making it one of the most affordable EVs on sale in the UK. For reference, the electric Dacia Spring costs £14,995 and the new Leapmotor T03 costs £15,995.
With its competitive pricing, the Twingo E-Tech should be an attractive choice for those looking to make the switch to electric when the car finally goes on sale.
