Volkswagen has revealed its latest concept car – the ID. EVERY1. This all-electric city car offers a preview of the long-awaited ID.1, which will be the entry point into the brand’s electric lineup when it launches in 2027.
The ID. EVERY1 concept is our first glimpse of the new ID.1, which will sit below the ID.2 supermini that’s expected to arrive in the UK in 2026. In this article, we’ll cover everything we know so far about the electric up! replacement.
What does the Volkswagen ID. EVERY1 look like?
The ID. EVERY1 is a compact electric hatchback with a city focus. Its design is modern and minimalist, reflecting Volkswagen’s commitment to affordable urban mobility.
The EV shares the same design language as the ID. 2all with its clean lines and boxy silhouette. Volkswagen infuses its cars with human-like characteristics, such as pupils in the headlights and a smiley front end, so its models look friendly and accessible.
While the ID. EVERY1 is a concept car, Volkswagen has confirmed that the design is close to what the production ID.1 will look like, with only minor adjustments expected to the lights, wheels, and door handles.
How big is the Volkswagen ID. EVERY1?
The Volkswagen ID. EVERY1 is 1,816mm wide and 3,880mm long. It’s slightly larger than the outgoing up! (3,600 mm) but smaller than the current Polo (4,074 mm) and the upcoming ID. 2all (4,050 mm).
Inside, there’s ample space for four people, plus a 305-litre boot that’s 50 litres larger than the Volkswagen up!’s.
Just like the ID. 2all, the ID. EVERY1 is built on a new version of Volkswagen’s MEB platform. VW says that the car’s interior will be just as roomy as the Polo’s.
What does the Volkswagen ID. EVERY1’s interior look like?
The inside of the Volkswagen ID. EVERY1 uses the same minimalist styling as the outside. Despite the car’s compact size, the interior feels open, with high-quality materials and recycled fabrics used throughout.
The dashboard is dominated by a large 15-inch touchscreen, complemented by a row of physical buttons and switches below. The squared-off steering wheel features user-friendly buttons, replacing the older haptic controls.
Additional practical touches include a sliding centre console, a removable Bluetooth speaker between the front seats, and a rail-mounted dashboard attachment for devices or extra storage.
How fast is the Volkswagen ID. EVERY1?
The ID. EVERY1 is powered by a newly developed electric motor that delivers 94bhp and drives the front wheels, enabling a top speed of 80mph. Volkswagen has yet to release official acceleration figures.
How much range does the Volkswagen ID. EVERY1 have?
The ID. EVERY1 has a modest 155-mile range, suggesting it has a battery capacity of around 40-50kWh.
While this is shorter than the 170-mile range expected from the new Renault Twingo, Volkswagen’s focus on urban mobility means this range is more than adequate for daily city commutes and short trips, especially in built-up areas with access to charging stations.
How much will the Volkswagen ID. EVERY1 cost?
When the production version of the Volkswagen ID.1 arrives in 2027, it's expected to carry a starting price of around £17,000 (€20,000).
This competitive price tag positions the ID.1 against electric vehicles like the Renault 5, Citroen e-C3, Fiat Grande Panda, Leapmotor T03, and Dacia Spring, making it an affordable choice for entry-level electric car buyers.
